Separated into two phases, the La Escuelita Education Center project consists of La Escuelita Elementary School (phase I) and MetWest High School (phase II). This multi-school project offers 21st century educational spaces for students, as well as a community center for the broader Oakland community. Sustainable design features are the hallmark of the La Escuelita Education Center, with evaporative cooling, photovoltaic energy, rainwater aqueducts, thermal mass construction, daylighting orientation, and displacement ventilation. With 56 points, La Escuelita is the highest scoring CHPS verified school in the State of California.
