Serving as the program designer, bridging architect, and owner design consultant for this project, SVA worked closely with Sacramento State University on this 600-bed student housing project, situated on a site at the northern end of the campus. The new building offers apartment-style living by way of multiple wings that coexist with the existing student housing village and the boundary formed by the esplanade. In addition to housing, the new facility features 4,000 sq. ft. of retail space. Common use facilities such as classrooms, printing lab, laundry room and mailroom, are centrally located within the heart of the complex. American River Courtyard is the first LEED Gold certified project on the Sacramento State University campus.
