Dr. Lawrence H. Moore Math, Science, & Technology Academy is a comprehensive elementary school located in Los Angeles. This challenging project required an innovative approach due to LAUSD requiring a facility that could provide an intimate-scale learning environment for 800 students along with a two-acre playground. The final program provides 32 classrooms contained in a three-story building, as well as a library, multipurpose room, food service, lunch shelter, and administration office. A key design feature is the articulated lantern stair that provides a small gathering area at the corner of campus to the south, acknowledging the existing park at the opposite corner of the street. This project is CHPS certified.
