SVA Architects & Design West Engineering Presents The Very Hungry CANterpillar.

SVA Architects is excited to announce that we’re participating in this year’s Orange County Food Bank’s food drive, through a unique design competition called Canstruction. We’re proud to partner with Design West Engineering in this creative effort to combat food insecurity in our community.

This year, we’re breathing life into a charming character from a beloved children’s book, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. Using cans of food, we are designing and building a life-sized sculpture of the lovable caterpillar, captured in a moment of discovery as it emerges vertically from an apple. More than just an imaginative work of art, this towering structure serves as a poignant reminder of the pressing need for food donations, particularly in these challenging times.

We need your help to make this possible. We’re reaching out to you, our generous supporters, to donate canned goods that will be used to build our sculpture, our goal is 6,000 cans. Your contributions not only fuel our creativity, but more importantly, they help provide meals for our neighbors in need.

• Structures are built on September 1st: Our team will construct the caterpillar and apple design out of donated cans.
