Jefferson Union High School District Faculty Housing

Jefferson Union High School District
122 units | 3.3 acres

Jefferson Union High School District faces tremendous challenges in recruiting and retaining faculty and staff because of the high cost of housing in the Bay Area. In response, a voter approved Measure J bond will provide $33 million of funding for teacher/staff housing, the first of its kind in the state. SVA and our design-build partner J.H. Fitzmaurice are providing a new 122-unit project that will provide housing for up to 25% of the district’s staff on a 3.3-acre site.

The Project will provide fifty-nine one-bedroom units, fifty-six two-bedroom units, and seven three-bedroom units. Homes will range from approximately 640 – 1,270 sq. ft., with rental rates estimated at 50% of market rate at the time of occupancy. The buildings will be Type 5, three and four-story structures with 200 parking spaces in a combination of structured parking as well as surface parking. Construction began in February 2020, and the first units are anticipated to open in the spring of 2022.
