The Kamehameha Community Learning Center at Ma’ili is an innovative complex that provides not only early education classrooms, but a new community for keiki, their familes, and non-profit organizations from the Waianae Coast. While many organizations have been striving to support this community, this project provides much needed additional work space, bringing the organizations together to work cohesively towards common goals. The project design emphasizes two key elements: creating a welcoming environment that helps serve as a transition between home and the classroom, and fostering a sense of place with strong visual connections to the outdoors and surrounding mountain ranges.
