Mountain View High School Bobby Salcedo Student Union & Cafeteria

El Monte, CA

El Monte Union High School District
30,000 sq. ft.

This project encompasses a full replacement of the campus cafeteria, which was destroyed by a fire in 2013. The new facility is 22,000 sq. ft. with over 9,000 sq. ft. of covered outdoor areas. It includes a dining/multi-use room, student store, M&O facilities, a full cooking kitchen, and a catering kitchen. More than just a place for students to eat, the facility will serve several functions, including hosting Associated Student Body meetings, theater and arts performances, and community events.

The Bobby Salcedo Student Union is named in honor of former student, beloved teacher, and lauded administrator Agustin Roberto “Bobby” Salcedo, who believed that every student deserved the opportunity to pursue a college education. The student union will serve this vision as an education hub to inspire greatness among Viking students and the El Monte community.
